The school motto is “Together We Grow” and this Motto is given life through the school's vision to realise an alive and growth-promoting community which reflects the values of the Gospel. The keynote of discipline is that of a lived respect for each person in the school community.

Over the years a strong and vibrant school community has been built wherein the variety of personal gifts are celebrated. In this community the uniqueness of each person is affirmed, initiatives are encouraged and a positive self-esteem both communally and individually is evident.

Our history

Named for the first Australian saint, St Mary MacKillop Primary has offered quality Catholic education since 1984.

St Mary MacKillop Primary School has a relatively recent history. As the population of Penrith South rapidly expanded in the early 1980s, there was a need for a second Catholic school.

Our school opened its doors for the first time on 31 January 1984. The foundation Principal was Sr Anne Cooper RSJ, a member of the Sisters of St Joseph. Also known as the Josephites, this is the same congregation founded by St Mary MacKillop.

Over the years, St Mary MacKillop has developed a reputation for educational excellence, featuring well resourced learning spaces equipped with the latest technology.

In honour of Mary MacKillop's canonisation, we changed our school name to ‘St Mary MacKillop Primary’ in 2013.

Today, St Mary MacKillop enrols 400 students, representing close to 300 families across Orchard Hills, Jamisontown, Kingswood and South Penrith.
