Dance students impressed the crowd with a range of dazzling performances
Hundreds of students from 35 primary and secondary Catholic schools from across the Diocese showcased their creative talents in a series of music, dance and strings performances throughout June, culminating in the ‘Best Of’ performance on 23 June.
The showcase events demonstrated the high calibre of choral, music and dance work from Catholic schools, under the Parramatta Diocese’s creative and performing arts initiative, CAPTIVATE.
The program provides learning and performance experiences for students, as well as builds expertise and a sense of community across the system.
CAPTIVATE is very popular with five new schools joining the program since last year.

World Mission Month – Putting Our Faith Into Action through supporting Socktober October is World Mission Month - a time for really putting our ‘Faith Into Action!' During World Mission month we remember that Jesus called us to love and care for our neighbour and we all share this very important responsibility to care for the needs of others. It is a time to think and act on how we can show our concern for those around us. Catholic Mission is the official international mission agency of the Catholic Church in Australia. Their focus is on creating change and building a more just world for people everywhere. Each year Catholic Mission holds a fundraising initiative called Socktober. Through participating in Socktober we put our faith into action by raising money that allows Catholic Mission to enact Jesus’ teachings of love and care for our neighbour. Yesterday, our playground was awash with colour wore our ‘crazy socks’ to help raise much needed funds for Catholic Mission. Thank you to everyone who put their faith into action to create a fairer world for everyone.

Students in Years 3 and 5 participated in their first of three aussie hoops sessions this week ⛹🏼🏀 Designed to compliment their PE lessons this term, students enjoyed developing their dribbling and passing skills guided by coaches from Penrith Basketball. In the coming weeks students will further develop these skills as well as shooting, and offensive and defensive strategies. Watch out NBA, we have some superstars in the making ✨

⚽🔔 Goalball for All 🔔⚽ Students in Years 4 and 6 enjoyed taking part in a Goalball 4 Schools incursion this week. This unique experience provided an environment for our students to try something new and from a different perspective. Students were challenged to utilise other senses such as hearing, touch and balance to participate. Whats goalball you ask? This sport is designed for those with vision impairments or are blind. Players need to defend their goals by listening out for the ball which has a bell inside it. Thank you to our coach from Bring It On Sports for delivering these sessions for our students.

On Wednesday our Year 1 students stepped back in time with an exciting excursion to the Australiana Pioneer Village in Wilberforce! They travelled back to an era before computers, television and air conditioners, when bread was freshly baked at home and milk came straight from the cow in the paddock. Our students explored what everyday life was like in the 1800s and discovered what it would have been like to attend a school during this time. From learning about old-fashioned school life to experiencing how people lived long ago, it was a wonderful opportunity to bring history to life and connect their classroom learning with the past!
