St Mary MacKillop Primary South Penrith

On Wednesday 20th June St Mary MacKillop Catholic Primary had our Term 2 Social Justice activity that supported the St Vincent de Paul Winter Appeal and Penrith Community Kitchen.

The community support of this social justice activity was amazing and I would like to thank every student and their family for their amazing generosity.

Overall your donations amounted to:

  • 34 bags full of beanies, scarves, gloves, socks and blankets
  • $300 for the St Vincent DePaul Winter Appeal
  • 75 bags of non-perishable groceries for Penrith Community Kitchen.

This food will go towards making many meals to feed the needy and homeless this winter.

Congratulations St Mary MacKillop, every one of you helped to make this winter better for a lot of needy people.

This week, our school community celebrated NAIDOC Week. NAIDOC week is the first week of the holidays. “Fifty Years of Deadly” (NAIDOC 2026 theme) marks a milestone. It’s a tribute to the people who built this movement: the Elders who stood firm, the organisers who made space, the artists who turned resistance into expression and the communities who keep showing up, year after year. To celebrate, grades read books, completed artworks, and other activities to learn more about this special celebration. Mr Buchan even organised a special event where we were able to have a Virtual Author Talk with Corey Tutt, who read two of his books with us and shared about his journey as an author.

This morning, Year 5 celebrated a beautiful Mass with Fr Joe. Reflecting on the theme, “We are the Church, the people of God,” the celebration highlighted our call to share the Good News through faith, kindness and service. Thank you to our Year 5 students, Fr Joe and staff for leading such a meaningful celebration.
